House of Commons invites GBSCUK - Gurdwara Bhat Sikh Council UK

A Very Historical Evening at the House of Commons:
A Time to Celebrate Sikh National Unity and Awareness

The House of Commons resounded with the spirit in which Sikh unity and advocacy by the Gurdwara Bhat Sikh Council of the UK (GBSCUK) was held for that significant evening with the All parties Parliamentary group (APPG) for Sikhs. Seated with 16 elected Sikh Members of Parliament and the APPG, this was undoubtedly an event to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurpurb and create awareness regarding the continued injustices faced by the Sikh community in the UK and India.

Surrounded by historical monuments, the event began with the loudest recognition of the efforts of the All parties Parliamentary group (APPG) for Sikhs in uniting disparate voices of different Sikhs across the UK. It was a celebration with a sobering reminder for all: the challenges of Partition 1947 as well as the tragedy of 1984 Massacres, events engraved in the memory of Sikh history.

GBSCUK was represented by such eminent members in the way of Mr. Pritam Singh Landa, Jasbir Singh Bhakar, Jaswant Singh Digpal, and Jujar Singh Landa, who stood firm with Sikh agencies putting their best efforts of hard work into bringing a change. This was an expression of their commitment towards unity, justice, and transparency for the community.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the special trophy, which signified appreciation of the efforts of Sikh organizations throughout the UK for their unique contributions to advocating justice and the rich cultural heritage of Sikhism.

A notable attendee was the Rt Hon Satvir Kaur MP for Southampton, representing the Bhat Sangat, whose presence added further significance to the occasion and highlighted the strong ties within the Sikh community.

As the evening progressed, poignant reflections on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji echoed through the halls. His scriptures on equality, compassion and community service served as reminder for all to take up personal responsibility in sustaining such values.

The evening ended on a high note with renewed vigor among the attendees. For GBSCUK, this moment at the House of Commons was a moment of pride in the mission to sustain Sikh unity and face the challenges confronted by the community.

It was the night to remember-a celebration of faith, resilience, and collective determination to ensure justice and recognition for the Sikh community across the world.
